The initial inspiration for my work began with a drawerful of mementos belonging to my Grandmother. It struck me how Time and History renders once precious personal treasures redundant. I attempt to reclaim the worth of these intrinsically valueless objects by affording them a new life, new context and ultimately new meaning.
The intimacy and power with which seemingly worthless items become imbued, when associated with and connected to memory becomes apparent.
My assemblages hint at narrative, but not explicitly so. It is for the viewer to contemplate and interpret them in light of their own experiences and reflect accordingly on their own meditations of the past.
